Emergency Repairs

Hawthorn Housing Co-operative provide an emergency repair service 24 hours per day 365 days of the year for our tenants.

Emergency repairs are to fix problems that:

  • are an immediate danger to your health
  • are an immediate risk to your safety
  • present a risk of significant damage to your property
  • cause significant damage to the building or
  • a risk to personal security (for example, external doors that will not lock)

Emergency repairs can be reported in person at our office at 23A Finlas Street, Possilpark, Glasgow, G21 5DB during normal working hours or by phoning us on 0141 336 2138.

Normal Working Hours

Normal working hours are:

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 9am - 12.30pm 1.30pm - 4:30pm
Wednesdays 10.30am - 12.30pm 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Friday 9am – 12.30pm 1.30pm – 4:00pm


On the last Wednesday of every month we are closed until 1.30pm due to staff training. 


Report an emergency repair outwith office hours

For emergency repairs outwith office hours, including weekends and public holidays, please contact the following telephone number:

  • Gas Central Heating & Hot Water Emergencies (City Building Gas Section): 0800 595 595

Our out of hours service is for emergency repairs only, where there is a potential danger to health or risk to the safety of the occupant or a danger of serious damage to the building.

 Examples of an emergency repair:

  • Blocked toilet pan if there is no other toilet in the house
  • Significant leaks or flooding from water supply pipes or heating pipes, water tanks or cylinders (where these are uncontainable/cannot be isolated)
  • Significant water penetration from roof (where this is uncontainable by using a bucket or pail)
  • Total loss of water supply (if not Scottish Water, call 0845 600 8855)
  • Total loss of electric power (if not Scottish Power, contact 0845 272 7999)
  • Loss of all lighting, or bathroom light, or all sockets
  • Unsecure door lock (where only one door lock is fitted)
  • Broken (not cracked) window which cannot be made safe temporarily
  • Total loss of space or water heating if no other heating is available
  • Total loss of gas supply or gas leak - report to Scottish Gas Networks on 0800 111 999
  • Fire, flood or storm damage

Please note that loss of a television aerial signal is not classified as an emergency - it is an urgent repair which we aim to complete within a 3 working day deadline.
